This tour invites you to taste some of the best-certified references of the demarcated Wine Region of Estremadura (Western Portugal). Not only you will be introduced to the amazing properties that transform the slow-growing grapes into the "magic liquid" but you will also understand the process of conception of this variety of wines produced on this region. You will get to know the flavors provided by some of the local Portuguese Red & White Wines from Western Portugal.
 
Departing from the Portuguese capital, we'll move towards the Northwest. Nestled in rolling green hills between the breathtakingly beautiful Atlantic coastline and the vibrant cultural life of Lisbon we will finally reach our first property of the day: the Quinta de Santana. Dating back to the 17th century this beautiful estate was given by King Carlos I to one of his mistresses, to whom he even decided to build a private theatre. Much later the Baron von Fürstenberg acquired the property, whose daughter married an English man and it's this couple who live in the property. After an explanation about the property, you will be taken into the realm of the wine production and the vineyards on a private visit. The wine tasting that will follow in the old wine cellar is the time to finally appreciate all of the tradition and time that has been put into the winemaking.
 
After your first wine experience on this day, we'll continue to the wonderful and well preserved small medieval village of Óbidos, facing the opportunity to travel back in time and to enjoy as well one local traditional drink "Ginginha". This is cherry liquor tasted on a small cup of chocolate (one of the particularities of this traditional local drink). After strolling in the narrow streets of Óbidos time for lunch will get closer... That's why we'll continue further north, to meet the Atlantic Ocean on the small fishing town of Nazaré. Here you will find some of the best restaurants for fish and seafood side by side with the beach and the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean. After lunch (meal not included), a small trip to the top of Nazaré, to a local promontory - Sítio - will allow you to observe one of the most spectacular views in this region over 100 meters above the water...

It will be time to head south towards our second winery of the day: the "Quinta do Sanguinhal". This family-owned winery is responsible for the production of some of the best local wines. With a special climate and production conditions, the grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional gain their own identity on this region of Portugal developing an enchanting and elegant wine. After a visit to the property and its ancient wine cellars, you will be invited to taste some of Sanguinhal's wines and once again let yourself go on the flavors of the ancient Portuguese wine tradition...

It is time now to return back to Lisbon, with a different flavor on our memories, based on the experience lived today.
