Why do we measure what we leave behind?

Every journey leaves a trace. We want it to be one of care.

Of a well-made journey, what stays with us is never the kilometers. It is lunch by the river, the conversation with someone who opened their door to us, the late-afternoon light in a village that was not on the map.
But something else stays too: the footprint. It comes with the car that takes us there, the hotel that welcomes us, the table set by the river. We cannot erase it. We can get to know it, reduce it whenever possible, and care for what remains. We call this TFY Carbon Trace.
Why do we measure what we leave behind?

How TFY Carbon Trace works?

  • We measure every journey. We use a software tool to calculate the carbon footprint of your itinerary.
  • We share the result. Alongside your proposal, we present a report with the estimated footprint of your journey. It is a gift from Tours For You.
  • We care for what remains. The footprint of each journey can be offset through projects that protect the climate and communities, in different parts of the world.
  • We keep careful records. Every journey is recorded, so that we know clearly how much we emit and how much we offset, year after year.
Offsetting does not replace reducing. It complements it. That is why our priority remains choosing lower-impact paths whenever we can.

Where the offsetting goes?

The carbon credits acquired through Sustainable Travel International are distributed across all the projects in its portfolio, a mix of forests, renewable energy, coastal ecosystems and carbon removal. Each project is assessed by STI for credibility and quality, and must meet rigorous standards set by independent bodies. Beyond reducing carbon, these projects must bring real benefits to the communities and fragile ecosystems where they take place.

A few stories from the portfolio:
  • Keo Seima, Cambodia. Protects a tropical forest sacred to the Indigenous Bunong people and shelters threatened species such as the yellow-cheeked gibbon. It creates jobs for local communities, from forest rangers to ecotourism guides.
  • Yaeda-Eyasi, Tanzania. Helps the Hadza and Datooga peoples protect the forest they call home. Revenue from the credits funds jobs and education and healthcare initiatives.
  • Rimba Raya, Indonesia. Conserves a peat swamp forest in Borneo that was slated for conversion to palm oil plantations, and supports the return of critically endangered orangutans to the wild.
  • Valle Paleazza, Italy. Restores centuries-old fishing valleys in the Venice Lagoon, protecting birds, fish nurseries and traditional fishing.
  • Macaúbas, Brazil. Turns landfill biogas into renewable electricity, keeping methane out of the atmosphere.
  • Sargassum recovery, Mexico. Removes sargassum seaweed from beaches and turns it into compost and biochar, creating local jobs and supporting women-led farms.

Our commitment

We are members of Sustainable Travel International, a global organization that has worked for over two decades to protect the places and communities that make travel possible.
And we are looking closer to home too. We are carrying out a study of the carbon footprint of our own operations, and we have public targets: to offset the residual emissions of the company's activity by 2028, 75% of the emissions of the journeys we organize by 2030, and 100% by 2032. You can read our Climate Action Plan in ESG Commitments.
We started this process in October 2026. We know there is a long road ahead. We will walk it with transparency, step by step, and with you by our side.

More than tailor-made, it's Kindness-made.
