Today we shall start our day by taking you, with our Tour Guide, on a visit to the old history and heritage of Lisbon. Settled along the centuries by such different civilizations as the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Visigoths and the Moors, the city is composed by seven hills overlooking the river Tejo. From the hilltop of the Castle and Alfama a “waterfall” of small houses and narrow streets descends towards the water, where once some of the glorious Portuguese sailors lived during the Portuguese Maritime discoveries. It was during this period that some of the most impressive monuments that we will visit were built: the Monastery of Jerónimos (16th century), the Tower of Belém (16th century) and the evocative Monument to the Discoveries (20th century). By the end of the morning we are sure that you will understand the magic of Lisbon a little better…

Visit to Sintra & Estoril Coast during the afternoon:

GuimarãesBraga

During the afternoon you will visit the mythical area of Sintra & Estoril coast. Considered World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Sintra will enchant you by its lush vegetation that surrounds the small houses and 19th century chalets along the mountain. It will be in this setting that we will visit the medieval Vila Palace, built as a summer residence by the Portuguese Royalty and an excellent display of the famous Portuguese glazed tiles. The return will be along the famous Estoril & Cascais coast, right next to the Atlantic, until we reach the city of Lisbon.

Day 3- Free Day to enjoy the city of Lisbon on your own.

In the morning we will leave the city of Lisbon behind and depart towards the plains of the Alentejo, embellished by olive trees, cork oak trees and immense wheat fields… It’s in the heart of this landscape that we will find Évora. Considered World Heritage by UNESCO, the city of Évora displays its strong walls that embrace the whole city, proud of a rich and imposing past. The Romans where here, leaving their 1st century Temple behind, but so were the Moors that occupied the narrow streets with quaint small white washed houses. Later the Christians garnished the town with squares, churches and a different lifestyle. During our walking tour we will discover all of this heritage, never forgetting a visit to the Church of Saint Francis and the famous “Chapel of the Bones” and, of course, a stop for lunch, so that you may enjoy the best of the Alentejana gastronomy.

During the afternoon it will be time to head to the surroundings of Évora towards a genuine winery of the Alentejo. This is a truly special place that represents the true spirit of the wines from the Alentejo: powerful, fruity and intense. Caves ©ICEPPorto ©ICEP

Today, you’ll have our driver and car at your orders for the entire day (9 AM to 6 PM). During the morning, for 4 hours, you’ll also have your private guide available to escort you in the most important monuments.

The city of Porto puts the Port into our country's name and indeed it is one of the oldest cities in Portugal. It's inhabitants are proud to be "tripe eaters" and they call their city the "unbeatable". It is a fact that the city of Porto has been the stage for some of the most important historical and cultural events that still today mold the portuguese culture.

During this Full-day private tour you will be able to experience all the charm and history of Porto right after leaving your hotel. You will indeed start by doing a panoramic tour towards the trendiest and most cultural area of the city called Boavista and Foz. This is where some of the best museums of the city are located and also where the Atlantic meets the Douro river providing the ideal location for the upper class residences.

Once you reach the historical city centre, considered World Heritage by UNESCO, you wil have more than enough time to explore the Church of São Francisco. This old simple gothic Franciscan church is now known as "the cave of gold" in an astonishing exhibit of wealth and power. Right next door you'll find the Stock Exchange Palace with incredible granite work and magnificent neo-arab influences. On your way up to the Cathedral you'll still have time to admire the interesting glazed tiles of the São Bento Railway station. After a visit to the Cathedral (12th century) you will be able to admire the river Douro and all of the Port Wine lodges that brought fame and fortune to the city. But a tour in Porto would never be complete without a visit to these wine cellars. After crossing the D.Luis Bridge you will start to smell the aroma of the slowly aging Port Wine. The massive vats improve the quality of a wine that can last for more than 100 years. During a guided visit of the wine cellars you will learn about its production, storage methods and all the secrets that make this nectar one of the most appreciated in the world.

After having some free time for lunch in a traditional restaurant of Porto (not included) and maybe try some of the local specialties like the tripe or the famous "francesinha" sandwich you will head to another part of the city: the aristocratic Avenida dos Aliados famous for its banks and trendy shops near Santa Catarina street and also to take a look at the Clérigos Church. It will be then up to you to decide if you'd like to spend the rest of the day having a look at the best shopping area of Porto or visit one of the main references of contemporary art in Portugal, the magnificent Serralves Foundation.

Day 7- Visit of the city of Guimarães and Braga with driver.

AlcobaçaGuimarães©ICEPBatalha

On top of the “Sacred hill” of the city we will find the castle, where tradition says that the first Portuguese King was born, alongside the magnificent Ducal Palace. After this first stop you shall walk down the narrow streets of the city, until youreach the small squares and historical little corners that make Guimarães one of the most interesting cities of Portugal. After visiting and have free time for lunch in Guimaraes, we will continue towards Braga, starting with a visit to the famous Sanctuary of “Bom Jesus” without forgetting a visit to the oldest Cathedral in Portugal, right in the centre of Braga. At the end of the day we will return to the city of Porto where we will stay on this last night of the itinerary.
