Day 1 to day 4– Arrival to Lisbon and car collection at the Airport. Departure towards the Centre of Portugal.

On this first day of your vacation it will be time to drive up to Aldeia das Dez in the centre of Portugal and in the heart of the pure Portuguese countryside. The omnipresent Serra da Estrela Mountain imposes its influence not just on the climate and landscape but also in the soul and welcoming character of the people. It's in one of the villages around the mountain that the Hotel Rural Quinta da Geia is located. Besides being an excellent place to relax, away from any busy city centre or stressful city, this is also a place where you can have a lot of fun with your family! If you just want to stay at the hotel then you can enjoy the excellent swimming pool. If you want to experience the flavours of local products then Seia is almost close enough to smell the aromas of the Serra da Estrela Cheese produced there. But when the time comes to explore then there's a little secret village waiting for you. A small village where all the houses are made of schist and where the only student of the local school is also the nephew of the teacher: this is the village of Piodão, reminding us of what used to be old Portugal.

Three nights’ accommodation at Hotel Rural Quinta da Geia (Aldeia das Dez)

Day 4 to day 7– Departure to Peso da Régua

After a few relaxation days in the pure Portuguese countryside it will be then time to continue a little further up to the north of Portugal and to the unique landscapes of the Douro Valley. During the last ice age the ice caps melted slowly creating an incredible valley where nowadays hundreds of little villages embrace the pace and taste of the valleys most valuable product: the Port wine! It will be in this mind frame that you and your family can learn all about the production of this product, produce your own wine or just hike in some of the paths along the vineyards followed by a lovely picnic. The river will be your company during your stay in Régua so why not to explore it on a boat ride followed by a visit to one of the most famous manor houses in Portugal: the Mateus Manor House letting you and your children enter the world of Portuguese aristocracy that still today subsists. If you just decide to stay at the hotel then we assure you that you won't get bored by the lovely swimming pool with amazing views over the valley.

Three nights’ accommodation at Quinta do Vallado (Peso da Régua)

Day 7 – Departure to Lisbon and overnight at hotel in the city

Today it will be the time to return to the capital of Portugal: Lisbon. If you still want to enjoy the rest of the day exploring the surroundings of the Hotel or just relaxing make sure you leave at least some time to explore Lisbon. Lisbon is a lively european capital where present and past live just side by side. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the largest Aquarium in Europe: the "Oceanário" (your children will be amazed) or to climb up the walls of the Saint George Castle at the top of the highest hill of Lisbon. If you still have time have a look at the area of Belém where hundreds of years of history await you in the monuments that celebrate the Portuguese discoveries of the past.
